All 6 Crew Members of US KC-135 Tanker Confirmed Dead After Crash in Western Iraq
The US Army has confirmed the deaths of two previously missing crew members from a fuel tanker aircraft that crashed in western Iraq, bringing the total death toll to six — all crew members aboard the American tanker have now been killed in this incident.
CENTCOM has not announced the cause of the crash, but stated that two aircraft were involved in the incident — the second aircraft landed safely. Officials confirmed that neither friendly fire nor enemy action was a factor.
On Thursday afternoon, CENTCOM had announced that a KC-135 Stratotanker crashed in "friendly airspace" and confirmed the deaths of four crew members at that time. The two remaining crew members had been reported as missing before their deaths were confirmed.
