BREAKINGSTATEMENT
Iran Partially Reopens Strait of Hormuz — Tankers May Pass, US Warships Remain Targets
Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary General of Iran's Expediency Council, announced on March 1 that the Strait of Hormuz is open to oil tankers 'until further notice,' partially reversing the effective closure that began February 28. However, US warships in the Persian Gulf remain legitimate targets for Iranian armed forces, Rezaei declared. The partial reopening provides limited relief to energy markets but leaves significant uncertainty, as multiple tankers had already diverted from the strait.
