NASA's Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS) has detected a large fire burning at the U.S. Navy's Naval Support Activity Bahrain in Manama, the capital of Bahrain. The satellite-based fire detection system identified the blaze at the major U.S. military installation, which serves as the headquarters for the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet. The detection comes amid ongoing Iranian retaliatory strikes targeting Gulf states, including previous attacks on Bahrain earlier in the conflict. The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.
