U.S. Army Fires Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) Against Iran — Apparent Combat Debut of New Weapon
The U.S. Army deployed the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) in ongoing military operations against Iran, marking what appears to be the weapon's first combat use since entering service roughly two years ago. CENTCOM released imagery from the "first 24 hours of Operation Epic Fury" showing a PrSM being launched from a HIMARS mobile launcher. The PrSM has a significantly longer range than its predecessor ATACMS — the initial version can strike targets over 500 km away, with variants under development reaching up to 1,000 km. Its high speed, ballistic trajectory, and multi-round launch pods make it effective against time-sensitive targets such as missile launchers and air defense systems, and harder to intercept than older systems.
