US State Department Authorizes Departure of Non-Emergency Personnel from Qatar

The U.S. Department of State authorized non-emergency government employees and their family members to depart Qatar on March 1, citing ongoing Iranian drone and missile attack threats. The travel advisory was upgraded to Level 3 'Reconsider Travel.' The U.S. Embassy in Qatar had earlier issued a shelter-in-place alert, and the FAA issued flight safety warnings for the region. Australia also authorized voluntary departures for diplomats' dependents in the UAE, Qatar, and Jordan.
