WSJ: US Faces Strategic Deadlock — Experts Warn Air Power Alone Insufficient, Ground Forces Needed to Reopen Hormuz

Wall Street Journal cited military experts on Thursday saying restrictions on air and naval operations against the Islamic Republic have created a strategic deadlock for Washington. Analysts believe the continued presence of the current government in Tehran with nuclear and missile capabilities would effectively hand Iran control of global energy markets. Security experts warn that if diplomatic paths fail, air power alone will not be sufficient to achieve vital objectives, including reopening the Strait of Hormuz and neutralizing remaining nuclear stockpiles. Brian Katulis, senior expert at the Middle East Institute, says: "Washington's strategic priorities likely require deploying ground forces and seizing parts of Iran's coastline."
