Iran Expediency Discernment Council appointed Ayatollah Alireza Arafi as the jurist member of the three-person Interim Leadership Council, completing its formation under Article 111 of the Iranian Constitution. The council comprising President Pezeshkian, Chief Justice Mohseni Ejei, and Arafi will assume Supreme Leader duties until the Assembly of Experts elects a new permanent leader.
