Beit Shemesh Death Toll Rises to 8 as IDF Investigates Interception Failure

The death toll from the Iranian ballistic missile strike on a residential building and bomb shelter in Beit Shemesh, Israel rose to eight killed, with over 36 wounded including two in critical condition, as emergency crews extracted additional bodies from the rubble on March 1. The Israel Defense Forces announced it is investigating the circumstances under which the missile penetrated Israel's multi-layered air defense system — including Iron Dome, David's Sling, and Arrow. A 10-year-old girl remains among the critically injured; the missile directly struck a synagogue shelter, causing collapse of the structure.
