Trump Reportedly Considering Visit to Israel on Independence Day to Receive Israel Prize

According to Channel 14 of Israeli television, US President Donald Trump is considering traveling to Israel in early May to receive the Israel Prize in Jerusalem on the country's Independence Day. When asked whether he would personally attend the ceremony on Israel's National Day — scheduled for April 22, 2026 (2nd of Ordibehesht 1405) — Trump reportedly responded: "Yes, it seems like it." Israel's Education Minister Yoav Kish had announced in December 2025 that the prize would be awarded to Trump for his "special contribution to the Jewish people." In February 2026, Kish sent Trump a formal invitation to attend the Israel Prize ceremony and announced plans to present him with a unique sculpture designed by Ben Dror, a 24-year-old designer who served 600 days in the reserve forces.
